Jake

This is a traditional letter press printing project. The image is a 12X19 inch print consisting of three layers of a hand cut linoleum carving. I hand mixed a light grey, rubber based ink for all layers.The base had most of his outlined form and avoided spots of the background paper that come through as highlights. The second layer revealed more highlights from the first layer and I mixed a medium blue to more solidify his form. The final layer created dark outlines to contrast against the second layer and make important feature and details stand out. The design was done on one sheet of linoleum and each layer required more material to be removed. This process makes these prints one of a kind.
